Pharmacognosy by treese and Evans
Pharmacognosy Trease and Evans
'Trease and Evans' is an encyclopedic reference work on pharmacognosy - the study of those natural substances, principally plants, that find a use in medicine. Its popularity and longevity stem from the book's balance between classical (crude and powdered drugs' characterization and examination) and modern (phytochemisty and pharmacology) aspects of this branch of science, as well as the editor's recognition in recent years of the growing importance of complementary medicines, including herbal, homeopathic and aromatherapy

The textbook on `Pharmaceutical Microbiology` has been adequately developed and expanded according to the AICTE- Approved Syllabus-2000 meant for the Pharmacy Degree Programme across all the Indian Universities, and others abroad offering similar curricula.
Specific attention has been duly paid to the presentation of each chapter that essentially includes: brief introduction, theoretical aspects, classification, neat and vivid diagrammatic illustrations of figures-graphics-equipments, lucid explanations, supportive classical examples, and profusely supplemented with explanatory`foot notes`-references in addition to further reading bibliography.
The text content runs over ten chapters that may prove to be of paramount interest and enormous readability not only confined to the B.Pharm., students but also to various M.Sc., academic curricula in such disciplines as: Food Microbiology, Environmental Science, Microbiology etc.
Key Features Include Concise and exhaustive presentation of scientific informations from several sources.
A wealth of theoretical information that opens newer possibilities.
Detailed classification of various microbial aspects.
Pharmaceutical assays and methodologies.
Comprehensive index includes significant terminologies.
Well documented statement of facts.

A textbook for undergraduate pharmacy students and for microbiologists entering the pharmaceutical industry, introducing the aspects of general microbiology that impinge on that industry. Covers the biology of micro-organisms, antimicrobial agents, and microbial aspects of pharmaceutical processing. First published in 1977 and updated from the 1992 edition with new chapters on vaccination and immunization to act as a link to updated material on the principles of immunity and the production of immunological products. The chapter on antibiotic assays did not make the cut, because so few development have taken place in the field that the coverage in previous editions was deemed sufficient. Other chapters have been enlarged, streamlined, or rewritten by new authors to reflect current conditions.

Modern Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology
Nduka Okafor, “Modern Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology
This book is directed towards undergraduates and beginning graduate students in microbiology, food science and chemical engineering. Those studying pharmacy, biochemistry and general biology will find it of interest. The section on waste disposal will be of interest to civil engineering and public health students and practitioners. For the benefit of those students who may be unfamiliar with the basic biological assumptions underlying industrial microbiology, such as students of chemical and civil engineering, elements of biology and microbiology are introduced. The new elements which have necessitated the shift in paradigm in industrial microbiology such as bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, site-directed mutation, metabolic engineering, the human genome project and others are also introduced and their relevance to industrial microbiology and biotechnology indicated. As many references as space will permit are included. The various applications of industrial microbiology are covered broadly, and the chapters are grouped to reflect these applications. The emphasis throughout, however, is on the physiological, biochemical principles, and where possible, the genomic principles behind these applications.
