Pharmaceutical Microbiology

Pharmaceutical Microbiology
Hugo and Russels | sixth Edition| Pdf | 2607kb
A textbook for undergraduate pharmacy students and for microbiologists entering the pharmaceutical industry, introducing the aspects of general microbiology that impinge on that industry. Covers the biology of micro-organisms, antimicrobial agents, and microbial aspects of pharmaceutical processing. First published in 1977 and updated from the 1992 edition with new chapters on vaccination and immunization to act as a link to updated material on the principles of immunity and the production of immunological products. The chapter on antibiotic assays did not make the cut, because so few development have taken place in the field that the coverage in previous editions was deemed sufficient. Other chapters have been enlarged, streamlined, or rewritten by new authors to reflect current conditions.

Foyes principles of medicinal chemistry

The Sixth Edition of this well-known text has been fully revised and updated to meet the changing curricula of medicinal chemistry courses. Emphasis is on patient-focused pharmaceutical care and on the pharmacist as a therapeutic consultant, rather than a chemist.
A new disease state management section explains appropriate therapeutic options for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and men’s and women’s health problems. Also new to this edition: Clinical Significance boxes, Drug Lists at the beginning of appropriate chapters, and an eight-page color insert with detailed illustrations of drug structures.

NEW TO THIS EDITION: case studies from previous editions and answers to this edition’s case studies will be available online at thePoint. New section on Disease State Management (Part IV) helps students understand how asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and women’s and men health issues can be treated with appropriate therapeutic options. 8-page color insert contains detailed illustrations of drug structures covered within the text. Clinical Significance boxes show students how the content in each of the chapters relates to effective pharmaceutical care. Drug Lists at the beginning of appropriate chapters are bulleted lists that provide students with a summary of the drugs covered within the chapter.

Modern Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology

Nduka Okafor, “Modern Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology
Science Publishers | 2007-03-30 | ISBN: 1578084342 | 539 pages | PDF | 4 MB

This book is directed towards undergraduates and beginning graduate students in microbiology, food science and chemical engineering. Those studying pharmacy, biochemistry and general biology will find it of interest. The section on waste disposal will be of interest to civil engineering and public health students and practitioners. For the benefit of those students who may be unfamiliar with the basic biological assumptions underlying industrial microbiology, such as students of chemical and civil engineering, elements of biology and microbiology are introduced. The new elements which have necessitated the shift in paradigm in industrial microbiology such as bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, site-directed mutation, metabolic engineering, the human genome project and others are also introduced and their relevance to industrial microbiology and biotechnology indicated. As many references as space will permit are included. The various applications of industrial microbiology are covered broadly, and the chapters are grouped to reflect these applications. The emphasis throughout, however, is on the physiological, biochemical principles, and where possible, the genomic principles behind these applications.

Heterocyclic Chemistry

Heterocyclic Chemistry.

Publisher: Wiley-Blackwell (an imprint of John Wiley & Sons Ltd) | ISBN: 1405193654 | edition: 2010 | PDF | 718 pages | 10.3 mb

This book gives a thorough review of the chemistry of each particular class of heterocycles, covering structure, reactivity, and synthesis. Unique to this book is a coverage of the organometalic chemistry associated with each class. It is my opinion that this book is a touch better than the Thieme and Gilcrest heterocyclic books, based mostly on the organization of material. I do wish, however, that the authors had given aminoheterocycles a bit more attention!
