National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) offers admission to eligible candidates in several Post Graduate based programmes in the field of Pharmacy. The Institute offers MS (Pharm), M.Pharm, M.Tech (Pharm) and MBA (Pharm). Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers under the Government of India established the institute as   an autonomous body and was declared as Institute of National Importance by Government of India. The Institute was originally located in Mohali only but after a few period of time, opened six more NIPER’s in cities including Ahmedabad, Hajipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Guwahati and Rae Bareilly. 

There is a common entrance exam for all the programmes which is conducted at number of cities across India. While admission to M.S. Pharm, M.Tech Pharm and M.Pharm programmes is based only on the entrance exam admission to MBA (Pharm) is based on a Written Test followed by a Personal Interview and group Discussion.

Eligibility Criteria:
A candidate should have done B.Pharm/M.Sc (in relevant disciplines)/B.Tech (Chemical Engineering) /B.V.Sc./ MBBS/BAMS or equivalent with atleast 60% aggregate or equivalent. Also the candidate should have valid GATE/NET scores for several disciplines. The eligibility criteria for different programmes vary in terms of the qualifying degree therefore refer to the admission notification for details. Those in their final year can also apply. Candidates at the 10+2 level should earn a minimum of 55% and should be from the science background at this level.
How to Apply:
Candidates can obtain the application forms in person or by post by sending a request for the form to NIPER, Mohali. Candidates have to send the filled form along with copies of their NET/GATE scorecard. Candidates who are obtaining their application form through post have to follow certain important advice. The candidates should write the entire letter in their own handwriting and should provide a specimen of their signature in the letter as well as at the back side of the Demand Draft.  The candidates should also provide their respective registration number along with the requisite letter.
Important Dates (Tentative):
• Date of commencement for issuing Information Brochure: March 3rd week, 2011
• Last Date for receipt of request for issue of Information by Post: April 1st week, 2011
• Last date for issue of application brochure from NIPER: April 4th week, 2011
• Last date for submission of completed application forms: April 4th week, 2011
• Date of Entrance Examination: June 2nd week, 2011
• Commencement of program: July 4th week, 2011
Please note that the dates are only tentative and are not final. The post will be updated as soon as the dates are officially released.
Pattern of Examination:
The Entrance Test will be of 2 hours consisting of 200 Multiple Choice Questions. The questions will be from the syllabus of B. Pharma and MSc.(Relevant Field). There will be negative marking of 25% for every incorrect answer.
